Derekia and Sha’Va made a decision to collaborate both skills to create this partnership with in this Beauty Salon. These ladies have enjoy helping others for over 20 years in the hair industry as stylists and business owners. They have provided great customer service to their clients in the past years. They have gained so much knowledge and skills throughout the years, they couldn’t wait to share it with others in their community.

Derekia Davis (Owner & Stylist)
has been in the hair industry since 1997. She has worked in many different salons throughout the year, Robin Hunt ( owner of Braid It Up Salon) was her mentor that taught her how to do the infamous weaves correctly. Soon after, she relocated to Stockton, CA where she worked out of her home for many years. She build her clientele and partnered up with a barber to open “Aces & Queens” for 2 years. She left there because her partner relocated out of state. She moved to Thornton Ave and opened up Mokah Hair Studio, where She is now expanding her salon. Derekia has also served as a cosmetology instructor at Elite Beauty College. She has also participated in Hair Shows and Competition and Won 1st Place in most of them. She specialize in Natural Hair Care and Weaves Installation.

Sha'Va Porter ( Owner & Receptionist)
has been in the Hair Industry since 2001. She started at Braid It Up Salon as Braid Stylist under the owner Robin Hunt. Derekia and Sha’Va became co-workers at this salon for 6 years. In 2008 -2010, Sha’Va obtained her AA degree in Business Management/ Emphasis on Accounting while working at Braid It Up Salon. She received her license in 2011 preparing Taxes. She created her business "SMS Tax Prep" in 2011. She prepared taxes for various clients of the Stockton Area for 5 years. Although she loves preparing taxes, she never lost the passion in creating styles on her clients. As a Braid Stylist, she participated in Hair Shows, Master of Ceremonies (M.C.)and Directed Hair Shows. She was also a Manager at Braid It Up Salon.
